Help with Shopsmith Speed Dial Operation

Gentlemen,

After memorizing the complete SS part's explosion charts, removing rust, waxing, and in general learning everything I can about my SS, I am in a position to at least start doing some actual work. If I can scrape up some money for actual lumber after buying parts!! (all said in jest - I ...

I had a 7 inch Oldham blade given to me. It works just fine with the SS and the 5/8 inch arbor and with the saw blade guard in the down position. I also bought the SS plywood blade some time ago. It is only good for thin pieces of plywood only, something around 1/8 inch thick. I needed something ...

Maybe we should all sign a waiver before discussing these things - just kidding. I agree with JPG on this one. For example, everyone knows that a climb cut is potentially dangerous when using a router. However there are times when a person must do at least a short climb cut. When I took my first ...

Great info here to consider. I know I learned something just from the back and forth. I bet you old dogs (term used with utmost respect) did too just by considering the various options. I am going to attach it and if it doesn't feel safe then I won't use it. I have a good 10" blade that I will use ...

It depends on what you are using for a saw. On the Mark V the standard is 10". For other table saws, the best answer comes from the manual for the particular saw. On some larger table saws, you'll find 12" being very common.

Also didn't I read in some of the older SS manuals that their standard ...

This was one of my first projects. My general way of working is to find a few plans / articles about a project and apply them to my overall vision/idea. I made our Son's table from red oak, plywood, glue, and decking screws. I counter sunk the screws and covered them with wood plugs. It turned out ...

Using 7 1/4" Table Saw Blade - appropriate?

Need some advice on feasibility of using a smaller diameter blade on the table saw. I have a 7 1/4" Forrest Blade still in the box. I bought this before I inherited my SS. Back when I couldn't budget a table saw. My solution then was to use my circular saw and a guide to make my cuts. Now that I ...

Thanks Guys. I am going to try your suggestions and see if I can get them to budge. If not we can re-evaluate.
