Re: Sheave Spacer missing
Glad to hear you were able to get it all back together. I still can't tell when the spacer use began. The oldest manual I have found it in so far is a Mark V 500 & 510 combo manual dated 3/86. It wasn't included in the parts drawings as late as the Mark 5 Parts List and Drawings I have dated 3/7...

Re: Help! Parts on the Loose!
ShawnMorton, Welcome to the Shopsmith Forum. You are correct that the Carriage Bolt and the Knurled Nut (in the middle of your picture) is a set used on the Aluminum Bandsaw Table. A similar set is used on the Miter to attach a wood extension to the Protractor face. (Sorry I don't have a picture of ...

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
Klaw19, The ad is for Total Shop tools not Shopsmith but rather a Shopsmith clone. It's why thing look different. There were a number of Shopsmith clones made in the past. Besides Total Shop you may find Wood Master, NIC Homeshop, Master Woodcraft, Master Shop and others. Parts are very similar but ...

Re: Sheave Spacer missing
JPG, Good question but I don't have an answer. In parts lists and drawings for the Mark 5 through those dated 3/74 do not have the Spacer. I have fewer consecutive manuals and drawing/parts lists after that. jimbeaux, You are correct that Mark V serial number 83461 was made in March 1981. I don't kn...

Re: A-34 Jigsaw Mounting Bolt
In my first post here, I showed a picture of the Mounting Bolt and Spacer. The picture below includes a non-OEM Mounting Bolt I received with a Jig Saw. It is the one on the left. You can see the difference in the overall length of the bolt and the length of the threaded end. This bolt can be used b...

Re: Sheave Spacer missing
jimbeaux, Welcome to the Shopsmith Forum. If you purchased your Shopsmith directly from the factory about 45 years ago, 1980ish, it would be what became known as the Mark V 500. That designation began for the original Table System Mark V when the Mark V 510 and 505 with the larger Table System were ...

Re: Trying to Date my grandfathers Shopsmith
Your Grandfathers Shopsmith Model 10ER serial number R46742 was probably made in very late 1950. As I said before there are not any records like the Mark 5/V has as to when one was made. There are a few things we do know such as Model 10ER serial number R53198 was made in the Western Plant in April ...

Re: Gallery of Restorations
Looks nice John!
Do I see the thin-walled Way Tubes? Does it have the hollow Table Posts?
I don't see the Upper Saw Blade Guard and was wondering if it has the later plain one seen on the bottom in the picture below.

Re: Universal lathe tool rest with lift assist
The 1982 Mark V I restored and all earlier Mark 5's have the single set screw but my 2001 and 2006 Mark V's have the two set screws.

Re: Tilting the 520 the other way…
camerio, I have seen posts of owner's trying to make Double Tilt Ends out of the conventional Base and Arm Bench Ends successfully. It is not just the Double Tilt Bench Ends that are needed to do under table routing and shaping. The Table Posts included for the Double Tilt Upgrade have the gear teet...
