Way Tubes - Mark V

Greetings, Getting a second used Shopsmith V 500 this weekend and I'm sure it'll be taken apart for moving it. I seem to remember, can't seem to locate the post, that the upper and lower way tubes vary slightly in length. If this is true, could someone tell me whether the shorter tubes go on the top...

Hello again,

Thanks for all the advice on here. Sounds like I shouldn't have any issue using my Shopsmith year round!

Using the Shopsmith in cooler temperatures

Greetings! Been awhile since I posted but with my woodworking hobby picking up steam I could use some advice. I work in an unheated garage which during the winter months can be kind of a drag. While it never drops to freezing, the temperature sits around 50F. I can get the ambient temperature of the...

Horizontal Boring Bit Selection

Greetings! I'm looking at drilling through the center of some 10 sided discs. Each disc will be about a half inch thick and I'll have about eight of them in a line. I plan on sandwiching them together with double-sided tape and building a jig to make sure they stay put during the process. I'll be us...

Re: Shop Made Clamp System

Thanks guys,

Necessity is the mother on invention LOL. I'll see if I can find my written plans and I'll scan them for ya.

There are a few things I'd do differently but it works for now. I'm sure I'll make at least one more for the drill press that can be drilled through.

A wooden vise using bar clamps.
Yep, that's pretty much what it is. The nice thing is that I can move it between machines and clamp it to their work table for various purposes.

Re: Wobble in Lower Bandsaw Tire

Not Quite. The original problem was that the band saw blade would periodically jump out of the groove between the two backup bearings. It now no longer does that. What do you believe resolved that issue? Honestly, I think that I did something differently when I put together and installed the backup...

Shop Made Clamp System

Greetings! Awhile back I I found myself in need of a small, light duty clamping jig. I drew up a quick sketch and made this with a plywood and wood screws. It has proven way more useful than I could have imagined. At some point I'm gonna rework it and make one specifically for the drill press. Clamp...
