I still check in occasionally. I have been doing less woodworking for a variety of reasons and haven't seen any topics where I could add anything of value to the discussion.RFGuy wrote: Wed Jun 03, 2026 9:39 am Robert,
I found this older post from Alan. Has he been back on the forum since the forum came back with the new owner?

Re: Something Better Than Repairs Is Coming
Very interested to see what Shopsmith will be doing in this regard. I seem to recall an interview with the new owner saying they wanted to have actual factory authorized repair locations (I think there's someone who already claims to be authorized but I think it might not really be).

Re: Cutting Precise Tenons
I've never had an issue cutting tight tenons on my 520 Shopsmith. I generally shoot for cutting them the exact same thickness as the mortises and then just lightly sand by hand if too tight.
My technique is to use a digital caliper set to 1/2 the width of the mortise to incise all the marks for the ...

Re: DC-6000 with DW735 Planer.
Yeah, I usually don't even turn on the DC3300 when I connect it to the DW735 due to the power of the blower. I only ever use one hose with the DC300 and the other inlets are blocked off by the factory plugs. Makes sense the DW735's powerful blower would turn the other inlets into an outlet ...

The plastic knobs can break if dropped. DAMHIK.tdorey wrote: Thu Aug 21, 2025 2:41 pm
Not sure why, I like the metal knobs better, Feel like if I drop them they would never break like the plastics ones may, (they feel incredibly strong though).

Re: Anyone consider cutting bandsaw Table?
I have a pair of the special offset tubes. Ironically they came with a used band saw with a cast iron table where they weren't needed. Initially I thought I'd swap them for the tubes on my aluminum table band saw; but I don't like the special offset tubes because they bounce like crazy.

Re: Is this one of the last 10ER's?
I'm not an expert on this model but I believe you will need certain adapters to run either the bandsaw or the jointer off of this. The original adapters are rare. A few years ago there was a guy making new versions. He might still be. Others will likely chime in.

Re: DIY DRILL PRESS TABLES?
As others said, Shopsmith is a great drill press with a great drill press table which tilts. It also accepts a fence and a miter gauge. (Useful to put a piece of scrap on the table so you don't bore into it or the insert.)
