One of the hardest joints in woodworking to keep constant is the simple but joint of a face frame to a cabinet side. No it just looks like a mistake!
This is called a bi-fold hinge.
All ready to install onto the cabinet.

The lower hinges have to be offset to clear the bottom tray.
