After ordering a new speed control assembly and speed control handle two weeks ago I still had not received notification of my order being processed and shipped. Have my Federal about 3/4 of the way done.....still need to do state. Hopefully get it done in the next evening or two. Try to claim enough exemptions to where I don't get much back (don't like loaning Uncle Sam My money for free).

Agreed, that is what I meant when I referenced them trying to survive in the bad economy of the last several years. While it is inconvenient to have to wait for basic parts at times, at least they are a company you can truly feel good about supporting.

Were you able to remove the key? As long as the motor shaft is kept horizontal, I do not think there will be much going into the motor, but the front bearing is there, and you do not want to 'dilute' any lubrication left.

Soaking is not the object, penetration into the mating surfaces is. The key ...

The idler shaft is in the headstock.

I assume you mean the motor shaft.

The fan sheave and the floating sheave are on the motor shaft.

If it is gunked up, the floating sheave can be quite difficult to remove(for the same reason, it does not function well either).

This will get you started. I am not sure he removes the fan sheave.

Be advised there are three different means of securing the spring to the end of the shaft.
