Re: Only slows/stops when something is attached

Hey guys! Sorry for the hiatus! Reading back through these posts, but in brief answer, I'm okay with live wires, as long as I have the right gear. Rubber gloves etc, I do have electrical clamps, wires and the multimeter. I am going to snap a photo of each of them. I want to get this running so bad ...

Re: Only slows/stops when something is attached

Is there a tutorial on measuring current on the unit? I have multimeters but to be honest I've never figured out how to use them as far as what to turn dial to for the setting I'm trying to measure. I have a general knowledge of electricity but I'm no expert!

As far as speed control, the only ...

Re: Stripped piston? Speed control

It does look like those keys were the ones that were compromised I filed them straight or bent them as well as I could, however when I read assembled it was still slowing down and stopping,

Re: Stripped piston? Speed control

Yes that was the part I was referring to, so I was able to read machine that part, and I didn't see that some of the speed control teeth on the inside are bent or warped where the bolt goes in and the clip attaches, I was able to refile them straight and or bend them back together yeah, but I think ...

Stripped piston? Speed control

Hey everyone, so I am in the process of trying to refurbish this shopsmith it's a v v, i have it partially taken apart and it looks like the reason that the speed control knob was having trouble was because the shaft that the Allen screws into seems to be partially stripped, if I were to round out ...

What do I have going on here?

I can't change the speed dial setting with any effect here's the inside https://photos.app.goo.gl/PhWupuamyJgrmU136

How do I fix it? When I turn the dial it seems to move the metal piece up and down not along the teeth like it should?
