I have 4 Mark VII's.
2 of them have issues in that they don't spin in reverse, they humm and then blow breaker.
I sprayed contact cleaner in the tiny gap between the metal arms of the buttons and the innards and sometimes the motor will turn backwards.

you are correct, these guys werent familiar with the punch process to seat the bearing. they were thinking about shiming the bearing with a fine metal film and then pressing or using an expansion compound around the bearing and activating. one guy suggested heating the collar and then compressing ...
