Item 555167 Disc Sander Dust Chute says: "Not for use with older aluminum discs". Anybody know why? Thanks!

I don't think the grid has anything to do with strength, the retrofit kit doesn't have any cover / grid & it works fine. Also, most other connectors on hoods are open. I think it's a safety issue, they'd probably close it completely if they could. Ultimate safety but I think air flow would suffe...
