@CreekWood,
Thanks for the link to the casters. The heavy duty ratcheting look like just the ticket for one of my CNCs when I redesign/enlarge/rebuild it and maybe also for a metal table I recently bought.

Re: Shopsmith purchasing advice
@MartinH, First, welcome to the forum. Having had a BT3000 in the past, currently a 500 (waiting to be converted to a 510) and 510, a 3HP Sawstop PCS, a Makita track saw, and a Makita miter saw, I'll toss out my thoughts especially on the sawing function and maybe give you some ideas. I too found th...

If I had done that, my wife would want me to replace the entire countertop.

Re: Fractal vise
And couldn’t help but think that it would be pretty darned easy to make on my CNC router. Now if I could just figure out why I might need one! If you look around the internet, you may find the files already made to cut one on a CNC. I have seen where there was a mention of files for 3D printing one...

Re: PowerPro Headstock DIY Upgrade
I personally hate the table saw function on my 500 for anything larger than a few inches and especially any that requires tilting the table, not quite as bad on my 510 but still not a fan, also had a BT3000 and have a barely used Rigid JSS. Not long after buying the Rigid, I ran across a deal too go...

Re: Mark V vibration while turning bowls
Hugh556, Does the vibration occur constantly or sporadically? When I was using my 500 in lathe mode, I had a sporadic vibration when turning bowls and hollow forms. I replaced the single bearing quill with a double, helped some but didn't eliminate the issue. I was using a Penn State Ind spindle ada...

Re: Quilll judders when being extended
I'll toss out a couple more questions to help us troubleshoot. Does it judder when nothing is on the quill? Do you have anything small besides the drill chuck that you can attach, even a blade arbor with the blade off; does it judder with those kinds of things? I had a similar situation where a lath...
