Re: New Shopsmith DC-6000 Dust Collector

Shopsmith isn't alone right now with some delays. I did some looking around on the internet, and there are other brands of dust collectors that are having delays right now too due to manufacturing plants having slowdowns or shutdowns in the past year due to COVID. During that time, demand for them l...

Re: DIY Electrical Question

I think you folks will find that color of the sheath means nothing. When I built my garage, all the #12 NM I purchased was yellow while the #14 NM was white. The #12 UF I purchased was white. Each manufacturer might do it different. Colors vary with years of manufacturing and changes in the manufact...

Re: A little math help please

Why bother to calculate it? Put in one size shim, tighten things down and measure again. If it still isn't correct, you know the thickness of the shims used and can easily get it right the second time.

Re: National Shopsmith Day

I think I'll make it National Take A Nap day.

I don't need a Shopsmith discount this week. I sent in an order to Shopsmith last week Monday and the order arrived on Friday, so now I'm probably done buying parts for a little while again.

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'

A 500 for sale up my way with bandsaw. They rarely come up for sale in this part of the country so if someone in this area is looking, this might be an option.

Re: Recent MDF prices??

There is an article today on a local news station site. They indicate that this lumber shortage is due to the pandemic that has caused the supply to decrease while demand has increased at the same time. I'm guessing that if we are patient for a year or so, things will likely improve. https://www.kfy...

Re: Different approach

The extra air might be a great idea that could make it more efficient pulling out the sawdust. If I ever get dust collection on my bandsaw, I might try it with the door open.

Re: Different approach

Mine isn't set up for dust collection so I don't know if this will affect that.
