Spring pole clamping

OK , I call it spring pole clamping... A book I saw it in recently called them "go bars". I like the term spring pole better. Go bar is a variation of some French word I read somewhere.
It is not something I have typically used but I might be able to put it to better use in the basement shop where the ceiling to bench top height is pretty uniform. The cathedral ceiling in the current shop did not lend itself well to it.
Basically springy poles are cut in differing lengths and sprung between the item on the bench top and a sturdy point at the ceiling directly overhead to clamp it. It can be useful in putting pressure in the center of a large panel etc.
It can be a little handier than lifting a bunch of sandbags or weights and can put all of the push in one small spot if desired.
It is one of those simple applications that I tend to forget exist most of the time.
Does any one use it regularly?

Luthiers use them to build acoustics all the time.

Yes, luthiers call them "Go-Bar Decks". Here's a pic of one. Looks like a fairly simple project to make.[ATTACH]15169[/ATTACH]
