my new crosscut sled

I decided to make a sled and here are the pics in order of assembly

I put T-slots in the fence for stop blocks.

I superglued washers to the bottom of the runners so
the sled wouldnt come out of the miter slots

Now thats one big Crosscut sled

Looks good. If you have not had a cross cut sled, you will soon wonder how you ever managed without one. For anything more than a few inches wide, a sled is a great tool.

How wide of a board can you cut? I thought mine was huge but I do have occasions when it is not big enough.

It will cut 18 inches wide
the sled and fence are 4ft. long

I think anything over 3 feet long qualifies as a cross cut toboggan.

My sled is 36" wide and 22" deep. The width is adequate. If I need support way out there I move the headstock left and use an extension table.

I have some difficulty with wide items. The blade is sometimes too close to the fence on the sled (can't pull the sled far enough without loosing lateral stability).
