Does that unknown item have ruler like markings. If it does, it may be an Incra accessory.

I'm quite sure Beeg nailed it. Commonly called a rip gauge. Most hand held circle saws come with them as do a lot of saber saws. I have a box full of them but seldom use one.

Oh! NOW I see that what I thought was a nail or pin of some kind is a flat bar.

Considering the inherent inaccuracy of a sabre saw, it serves that function well. Tis a bit small for a circular hand saw(Skilsaw to us old fogeys!).
Beeg did indeed nail it!

I recently acquired the SS stop for the miter bar, but the stop screws are missing from the body of the gauge. Does anyone know what size goes in there to stop the stop.

5/16-18. Flat or domed bottom end. They hold the bar.

so glad you posted these pics -- I also have a miter gauge and miter stop bar - I had no idea what they were! I was going to look for a tutorial or video just for these accessories, but then I wondered: Would it be easier to just use my table top miter saw instead? It looks like those accessories might be time consuming to use.

The only thing I recognized was the rip gauge that came with my circular saw. ;)

Quite possibly if width of the piece you are cross cutting does not exceed the miter saw's capacity.

Would you consider posting a picture to make sure we are all talking about the same set screws.

Unless we are not talking about item #272, Headless Stop Screw (501407).

I was referring to the set screws that secure the stop rod to the miter gauge. There are two of them. The stop rod runs through the hole that runs from side to side of the miter gauge. The two screws are inserted from the top of the miter gauge and clamp the rod in position. The miter gauge does not come with those screws(not presently). I believe a thumb screw is included with the stop rod accessory. I prefer set screws.
