I use Top Coat in between JPW applications on table surfaces. It's fast and easy to apply. As soon as I feel stock not gliding across the tables smooth, I just spray on some Top Coat, wipe off, and I'm back in business. It doesn't seem to build up fast as long as you don't wait too long between JPW applications.
My Shopsmith help kit came with a small can as part of the kit.

I will have to check my help kit and see what is in it.
"Obviously, there has been a maintenance step that I have been neglecting for all these years. Now TopCote might not be the right stuff. Only time will tell. But right now, my table goers up and down like a brand new unit.
Now how do I know that? I have not had a brand new unit for 25 years and I certainly don't remember that far back."
