Just a short comment on the headstock wedges - I would suggest that you carefully examine yours and file off any 'non-flat' area on the sloping part. There is an excellent thread on the Forum here:

I am getting ready to tackle my upgrade very soon and will be following yours with close attention. My headstock wedges don't hold as well as they should (also the one's on the table) - I was going to replace them but the thread above convinced me that I can probably just clean them up and proceed.

Ok, I was able to drive out the pin and remove the handle. The wedges are flat so no filing will be required.
