Modifying a Mark 2 table to work with Mark 5 fence

I recently acquired a few Mark 2 parts including a work table. The table is the same width as a Mark 5 table, but is shallower by 1" and has a different fence rail on the front.

First alteration is to mount the original rail upside down.

Next a Mark 5 rail is screwed onto the Mark 2 rail.

The table is 1" shorter front to rear. It has a tapped hole in the center that has 1/4 - 28 threads.

I attached a 1x1 wood spacer to the rear with a 1/4-28 cap screw. Notice the miter bar clearance notches. I may use carpet tape to prevent shifting position since only the screw in the center holds it in place. Eventually the wood spacer may be replaced with an aluminum bar.

Lastly a Mark 5 fence now functions with the Mark 2 table. I may need to shim the Mark 5 rail from the looks of this pix. The fence appears low in the front.

I do not know if the quill shaft is in the same location(front to rear) as a Mark 5. Time shall tell!

Some more interesting Mark 2 modifications are in the works.

Shimming evened things out. The quill will be 1/2" closer to the front of the fence.

I presume the 'hole' in the table insert establishes the quill location. That and the insert itself.
