I have the double tilt upgrade and was reading though the instructions. Is there another way of accomplishing the upgrade without turning the unit upside down? Since there's only one of me, I'm afraid of doing damage to the headstock.

With an extension on the(both?) end and the main table set to the same height, the headstock will never come under stress.
The secret is to roll it over slowly(gently) with no 'jarring'.
If you set it on saw horses wide enough, the tubes will support it entirely in both positions and in between and the tables can be removed to decrease weight.

block and tackle came in handy
I had long ago install a medium-sized block and tackle to allow me to lift solid-core doors onto my working frame. I have it bolted onto a joist in my workshop (aka SWMBO garage space).
It really came in handy when it came time to install my double-lift since all my friends are 'seasoned' and have bad-to-worse backs (like me). It allowed me to control the roll-over slowly as JPG advised without needing any help. Just be sure that you understand where the COG is so that it doesn't jump at you when tilting.

Now there is a kind offer worth taking advantage of. Truly turning the tool upside down will net the best results. Having an extra pair of hands is both fun and safe.
