I was using my Pro Planer (first time in a long time) and a small part fell out of the bottom.
It looks like a square drive, and it's 1/4" x 1/4" and about 1/2" long.
I can't figure out what it is. The only place it looks like it fits (which doesn't make sense) is in the axle of the top pulley of the belt assembly.

Any help would be appreciated!

Looks like a shaft key used on either the planer or motor pulley.sawdustdan wrote:I was using my Pro Planer (first time in a long time) and a small part fell out of the bottom.

Thanks for the quick reply. That's sounds like the official name of the place I tried to describe...![]()
It fits pretty loosely in that slot - is that the way it's supposed to be? Is there something I'm missing?
It obviously should not be loose and I WOULD EXPECT that there are set screws in both locations to secure the shaft keys in place.
In fact, looking at the image you posted, I think I see where the set screw has been.
It has been so long since I have been down into my proplaner that I am not sure.
PS: The illustrated parts list does not show set screws but they are there. I had to go look to be sure. Pull the belt cover and look in behind the pulleys; you will find them.
