Stand Mount Scrollsaw

THANK YOU sir for taking the time for all this, apparently I don't have the fixture (I was unaware it was supposed to exist) but I do have one set of blocks that were in the saw. The pictures ect are great but I see where I would need the fixture.
However I did try and order the upgraded blade mounting kit, and paid for it, but it's on back order. So will I need the fixture with the upgrade kit? I'm guessing not. And with my manual ordered, maybe I should just be patient and not use it right away.

I just have a new toy and want to use it

If you have the blocks, mounting a blade is relatively simple. All the 'fixture' does is align the blade to the block clamp. That can be done without the fixture, but the fixture does make it quicker and easier. Make sure the blades are inserted far enough and both ends are the same.

BTW did you get the L shaped blade clamp shim?

But you do have the fixture as it is built in to your table shown in this picture from your post. Technically, you have two of them.

I have the blocks which are two pieces and a set screw, one of them in L shape, otherwise I know not of what you speak and dont see it on the pic you sent.

The "L shaped" tool I referred to is used when you reattach the top end of a blade to the block for inside cuts. The 'tool' prevents the block from rotating as you loosen/tighten the clamp screw.

Yes sir found 2 of those in the goodie bag I recieved with 16 packages of new unopened blades of various sizes.

No shop time last night, but it's Friday and that is encouraging

My owners manual has been shipped, but I bet it's late next week before the wagons can get it this far west. Don't tell my wife, but a 16' clear DC hose seemed to have made it into the order

Good! I hope to find my recently discovered to be 'missing' one in the sawdust/debris on the floor. Went to get it to take a pix, and it ain't where it shoulda been!:(

Now where is that 20' DC hose?:D

I thought I heard that SS was not making the scroll saw anymore, so I purchased a Porter Cable 16" last week. I must say I really, really need to practice my cuts. I kind of felt like a third grader that cannot color inside the lines.

I know the feeling! Fortunately, I took a class at the Boise Woodcraft store on scrollsawing Christmas Ornaments. Nothing like sitting down with someone who can teach, give some tips that I have never read and finally critique your style.
