Today in the shop (fun, maintenance not a big deal)

I've started spending my 2013 shop funds with an order to shopsmith for primarily parts.

I thought you might like to come along with me as I did a few things in the shop.

First was a pretty easy fix, a replacement of a cracked cutter adjusting knob on the tool rest that is part of the lathe duplicator.

On the same tool rest a know was missing, it is added to the set-screw to make it a hand operation rather then having to have a tool to do the adjustment.

The lost setscrew for the drill chuck was next on the list. It will be nice to have another chuck in service.

This dust collector part had just a small nick in it and it began growing. I drill a stress relief hole which seems to have stopped its progress. A $14.11 item seem like it would be worth the price to have a new one.

Back in July of 2010 I miss placed the legs for the strip sander, I kept thinking they would turn up. I gave up and got a new set so I can get it back into use.

My belt sander is old school, not having the eccentric legs. My shopsmith has now been upgraded to the dual tilt that expects the SPT's to have eccentric legs.

I picked these up a while back and though while I was at the other projects of the day I get this done. Actually the belt sander is in need of a good cleaning and I want to pull it apart in the spring and "tune it" but I did not want to loose the "new" legs, 'cause that has happen before.

I still need to work the eccentric leg issue on the old jig saw.... I don't have a solution to that yet.

Thanks for tagging along while I got this stuff done today. Seems I might have got a few other things done as well but I don't remember what they were.

Yes and it seems to be a camara hog.

That's the dreaded "lurkin pine squirrel". Quite dangerous you know, they just show up out of the woodwork and "lurk". You gotta watch yer back. Never take yer eye off em.

Oh yes now I recall what else happened in the shop yesterday. This squirrel popped right out of a piece of maple while I was working on at the bandsaw!

As you can guess from the title of the thread there was some "fun" intended.

And as some have suggested it is a ORP (Oven Rack Position-er). The design came from this post:

He was so good a pet yesterday, but his shop time will be limited. A little sanding and rounding of the edges and some finish and then he will go on kitchen duty. I do expect a few friends of his to show up on a nice warm spring day some where in the future.

It is also possible that one of the friends might look a bit like a push stick for the shop, you just never know.
