So did I - like all the best presents, it was a present to myself. I saw it on a thread here a little while back and added it to my short list of stuff I gotta have. I long ago told my wife I don't want stuff for X-Mas or Birthday...she'll still get me some odds and ends, a book etc., but I told her to quit guessing what I might want in the guy realm. If there's a tool or gadget I want, I'll get it for myself and know I get the one I wanted. I told her to put her gift-giving energy into our kids. Speaking of this planer and Wixey, they make a digital thickness readout that's available as an option:

Anyone have this planer and/or use this digital readout and have any input on either? I'm at the point I can't wait much longer for a SS planer to find it's way to me at a price I can afford, so this seemed like the next best option.
