Would the flat metal mending plates that are sold in HD and Lowes work for the repairs? Sometimes they are called joining plates and are used for making trusses. They can be tapped into place and secured with ring shank nails for the joints that you illustrated.

I am with farmer on not being afraid of removing outside skin to fix wood damage. The one I redid had damage where water could get in around a couple of windows and under them and where the awning had town off the front leaving holes in the skin. We did what we could from inside, but had to peel curved skin of teardrop shaped trailer on back for under back window. Took some doing, but made good repair.

Until I get the trailer which has been at my daughters home for many years back into the drive way, I don't know what I am up against My son-in-law says that he can see no evidence of water damage on the inside walls. Now I am relatively certain that he has not done a detailed inspection so all I can do is wait and see.

I am hoping that he knows what he is saying because the cost of paneling is a bit more expensive than I had thought. The cost is higher than plywood paneling because it is fire retardant.

Then there is support members. Oh, I wish it was in the drive way. I can not stand the suspense.

The odd screw hole is where the capture screw was used.

I'm glad that may help you out. If you end up removing the skin (or not, I know you haven't seen the trailer in years) then screwing the jig to the repaired wood should help ya.

Should be a fun project. A couple years ago I stumbled upon Glen-L wedsite and was amazed at the truck camper plans. They also have trailer plans. Now since I don't have 1-ton truck I've been looking into tear drop trailers and those look like a project I could handle. Nothing like camping!

My son-in-law got the Aristocrat pulled up out of the fields to the house where it can be made ready for the trip to our house. The tires are inflated and seem to be holding air. It'll soon be sitting in my drive way where it will become my obsession for the the summer.

I had ruled out the idea of a generator due to lack of space but this gives me some latitude. But then what will I do with the propane tanks?

Hmmm This may be a prototype for the first motorhome.

I don't have the trailer yet but that is proving to be a good thing. If it was in the driveway I would probably already be cusing myself for what I had done without "planning".

I have made progress though. My daughter has helped with photos and dimensions. With that input and some help from other RV sites - I am developing a "plan" while gaining some incite into the Aristocrat design.
