It's Shopsmith related, Dusty. It has to do with the distance the miter slot is from the blade opening. I fought the same problem, adjusting the table, quill, head stock and I box. Finally gave up and did as Ed did. Only the MDF guard required a smidgen of trimming. No beautiful Incra metal was harmed.

Thank you, Gene, for the feedback. Before I order mine, I'll call Mark to see if they have plans to make any changes. Even without a design fix, the slight trimming of that cutout seems to be an easy and effective fix. I make "design changes" like that on almost every project I build.

Incra I Box
Had the same problem with the glide lock washers. The screw is bottoming out on the bar. Turned the washers over and it works fine. Also the same problem as Ed on the screw and 1/4 inch bolt occupying the same space.

According to Mark at Incra, with the SS it really doesn't matter. I find it easier to reset it after removal for another operation, when its on the left of the blade. YMMVheathicus wrote:I've been wondering the same thing.

The tilt idea is what Incra uses to help decide which side of the blade you will mount the jig on. What it really tells you is which side is going to be your fixed side. The other side is where the cut is made and where changes to the thickness of the dado set comes.
The initial setting should be very close each and every time you mount the jig this way. The width changes has no effect on the location of the left most blade on left tilting saws. That location is "fixed" by the saws design. As you add chippers and grow your cut it always grows to the right. So mounting it to the selected side should save you time and effort over the total readjustments that would be needed if you went the other way.
BTW you can assemble it for left or right sides and you can change it to the other way anytime you want. Nothing gets fixed or cut or altered to negate the switch. In fact if you want to do double duty and use the jig on a router table you can add that into the mix.
Is anyone clear on this? Should I be out taking more pictures? Got to love this stuff, or at least I do.

I think I understand the left/right tilt thing. It's not about the actual tilt but about the reference to which outside dado blade is always in the same place relative to the miter slot and regardless of the thickness of the dado stack. For left tilting saws (including the Shopsmith) the left outside blade is the reference. For right tilting saws, the right outside blade is the reference. Correct?
