Why yes it is. I've had it for a while and since I've got it I use it for all major alignments. It is costly but then so are miss-cuts due to miss alignments. I'd buy one again if I lost this one, it has grown on me and I now depend on it.

Here is something that I just happened to notice today while I had my two new Incra pieces on the shopsmith at the same time. If I had to title it, "Incra meets Incra" would be my choise.

The Incra I box was just aligned again after taking it apart for pictures, the V120 I just put together yesterday, the shopsmith, well it was just there to provide miter slots.

When I slid the two together what did I find. I found that they align with each other perfectible. And I'm quite sure that is because they are both right on right.

I am easily convinced that they are "right on". One reason is because they are "Incra" and the other reason is because the alignment was done by "Reible".

Thanks for your reply regarding the Master Plate. I have been waiting for a nephew of mine to build one for me (he is an excellent machinist and builds for some of the well known race drivers) but I don't think he is ever going to get around to me (the leach).

Guess I better buy one.

The Split Nylon Washers

Post by dusty »

There are at least two versions of the split nylon washer being used by Incra.

The diameter and thickness of the two are extremely close to identical but the countersinks differ.

In one version the countersink goes all the way through and mates perfectly with the countersink in the one Incra miter bar that has countersinks. One produces a smooth transition from washer to bar.

On the other version, the countersink does not go all the way through.

I did a mix and match routine and was unable to create the issue that is the subject of this thread and then decided to return to the original configuration and leave well enough alone.

You know I think I remember getting some extra split washers with my HD1000, I have to look to see if I can find my spare Incra parts to see what they look like.

I'm also wondering if they are two different parts or could it be that it is one part but made wrong, well I guess that is still two parts, one right, one wrong.... It also could be old design vs new design??

At this point we both have working systems so all is good in the world.

For those of you who own either the shopsmith 2000 or perhaps a non shopsmith incra miter system I have some good news for you. For those that want a little extra and are will to pay the price I have good news for you too.

We owners know that the incra has some nice features, the precision stops and gliding miter bar come to mind right off. Those that own versions that came with the fence know just how useful that is when combined with stops.

For those that have no idea what I'm talking about I would suggest a visit to the Incra web site. Look at the miter gauges and read and what the videos.

My 2000 had the old fence system and the issue when trying to set stops on mitered piece where the workpiece angle could lift the flip stops and provide less then perfect control. I changed my fence and stop system some years ago with an updated one. Since it was Incra the new system fit my old 2000 just fine.

My thoughts have been that when I got a V120 that I could probably use the interchange the fence between the two. So lets get to some pictures to make it clear what I was thinking about. First some shots of the 2000.

Keep in mind that you would want either or both a floating table/fixed table to a real setup, this was done for the photo op.

Now we can look at both miter gauges, will things really fit?

To find out you will have to go to the next post.

If you like to figure things out yourself then let this be a spoiler alert, I will be covering a few things and showing pictures of the unit. Also keep in mind I will not be attempting to show things that are already covered pretty well in the manual.

I emptied the box and the contents are shown.

At this point I was more interested in the fit of the miter bar that I went to check that out before doing anything else. We had discovered that on the I-Box the miter bar was not countersunk for the adjustable white disks thus not being able to expand for a good fit (at some of had this problem). See this post for additional information:

https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?t=12807

I attempted to get a nice sliding fit but it wasn't even close to being a snug fit.

I removed the white disks and again there is no countersink on the holes.

In this case there are 4 holes that need attention. See locations, green tape is marking them. (The compass head needs to rotate to locate them all.)

Again a small countersinking allows the adjustment that I was looking for.

More to come.

The lack of undercut screws may be the issue and replacement the solution. See this post. http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/showpos ... stcount=67
