My plan is to use the carbide tools for final cleanup and special highlights like a small valley around upper part of the bowl, etc. I also need to use something very sharp to take the final cuts near the rim of the bowl without breakouts, of which I have had several so far :mad:

It could be an optical illusion, but to me the cutting lengths in the picture all look very close and most of the variation is in the handle. Which the longer handle would provide extra leverage when reisitance is increasing.

If you're grinding your tools down to the nub, that's impressive. I'd make that my avatar if I ever did that.

I have been using Easy Wood Turning tools for about a year. I like them very much. I find my list of projects and other responsibilities forces me to focus on working with wood rather than building my own tools. Jim
