For Jointech users

Any of you guys have a source or work around for the plastic inserts for the fence?

I guess we all knew this time would come....

I had stocked up with a few back in the day so I still have some left.

I did work on a few ideas were I was making a thick block of MDF with dowels sized to fit the holes.

The intent worked except you end up with a very thick insert (thick enough that it would except the dowels).

My next step was to be to make a "U" shape recess to take a another insert of 1/4" depth, this thinner area that would except a replaceable parts for most smaller cutters. That is about as far as I got so I have no idea if this is going to work well or not.

Right now I have many jobs lined up so I don't see me getting back to this project anytime soon.

At this point I'm not sure where the parts I did work on are. If I spot them I'll post them here.

Thought about trying to make a few.

Here ya go.
The back wouldn't need to be like this one. It's 3/4" thick at the edges. As Ed indicated, 3/4" might be a tad thin to put those 1/2" pins in.
Looking at the blurry picture of the end, I'm not sure that middle pin needs to be of that configuration. It could probably be just like the other two.

I will also keep an eye on this post, I got a really nice Jointech system when I picked up my 520. I have a few inserts left but will know I will need some in the future.

Gene, I would probably 1/4" dowels to mount the 1/2" pins. That way I could keep the thickness of the insert at 3/4". Fortunately, I think I still have about a half dozen inserts left for my Jointech.

An alternate approach would be to utilize the t-slot on the face of the fence to hold sacrificial pieces to create a zero clearance fence. This is the approach that Incra uses on their fence.

Here are pictures of one of the newer style inserts that I received from Jointech.

The dimensions of the body are 2" x 4-1/2" x 3/4" and the pins appear to be a fat 1/2" in diameter.
