Has anyone heard any actual numbers?
Like a normal family of four what is their monthly cost?
Our news last night interviewed a guy that was paying $5000 a year for his families health insurance. They never said what the same would cost under Obama care they only reported the problems people were having trying to get in.
I would like to see some comparisons.
Like before Obama care their insurance was $5000 a year
Under Obame care the same coverage will be $xx.xx a year
I think that will tell the story real quick. If it is lower then we are subsidizing it and just will run the debt up. If it is higher then the plan is not doing what everyone said it would. If it is the same then I think the plan may work.

If you really want the "with obamacare" numbers, you can get those by going on healthcare.gov and reading.Ed in Tampa wrote:Has anyone heard any actual numbers?

The hard part is making certain that what the web site quotes to you is for the same coverage that you are trying to compare to. Going into this, one needs to know the family complement, gross income, amount of co-pay that you seek and the level of coverage.
If you just break a leg, you can probably trust that with whatever you choose, you will be covered. It may be a different story if you need a heart bypass or a lung transfer. That would then depend on whether you chose a plan with catastrophic coverage and the meaning of catastrophic at the time.

Penalty for Not Having Health Coverage
All that I have read or heard (until today) about the penalty was that it would be $95 and that might be true throughout the rest of 2013. But then coverage does not really kick in until 2014.
Once the calendar rolls to 2014, I think I read the penalty to be $95 or 1% of your gross income whichever is highest. Now that is a well thought out penalty clause. The escape is in the fact that most people with 6 digit incomes are probably working for someone who provides medical coverage.

That is what I would like to see the cost of a plan that covers the same things one for one no exceptions. The media should be easily able to find a test subject family and do this. That would to me answer a lot of questions.

You can do that for yourself Just go on line and present yourself as an applicant.Ed in Tampa wrote:That is what I would like to see the cost of a plan that covers the same things one for one no exceptions. BTW The answers would be different for you than they would for me because you are in one exchange while I am be in another. You may have a dozen options but I have only four.
If you and I chose exactly the same level of coverage, our costs might well be different. I have a different income and I am in a different exchange.
It is very difficult, if not impossible, to do an apple to apple comparison.

For the 30 million Americans that don't currently have health insurance, it will cost them more than they are paying now.
For most who currently are paying for their own insurance, the cost will go down. For those who have insurance through their employer, it's best to stay with them if you can. The trick is to convince those young folks to pay for something they don't think they need at this point in their life.

Heath,
Are you eligible for any subsidy from the government that would reduce that premium? That bronze plan is a complete joke
I hope you can get a "silver" or "gold" (whatever the colors mean) plan with subsidies. Please let me know after the website stops sucking

But I don't know what the cost was before Obama care. My medical is paid for by my former employer.dusty wrote:You can do that for yourself Just go on line and present yourself as an applicant.
