Position of rip fence on 510

Never measured the thicknesses or diameters of rails or tubes. Really don't care.

All I know is I bought a 510 new and have not changed anything except changing to a PowerPro. Thickness of rails must be the same on all tables, because when tightening the extension tubes (pressing the tubes to the front inner side of the rails) the rails become aligned.

Yep! Don't know how you'd get an unmatched set if they were all ordered at the same time from Shopsmith. Guess when we get assorted parts from other sellers, we have to take into consideration the possibility of unmatched parts.

Still, if you follow the same procedure as I did in post #7, your rip fence wouldn't be off a measurable amount.

Shopsmith machines last a long time, and there are new parts available, but I guess this is no guarantee that specs of all parts have not changed.

Like the title says not the same thing but along the same lines and I would like to get the opinion of the experts on the forum. I bought a 505 that was barely used and in great shape but I wanted the 510 floating tables ect. Last week I found a good deal on an older 510 that came with a DC3300 that was still in the box so you know I had to have all that. My question is I got the 510 home and noticed that the aux. and floating tables seem to be a different height or thickness. they have the same tubes and locking mechanism (the large wheel) the only thing I can tell is different is the 2003 model 505 has black on the sides and in the groves of the tables and the 1991 model 510 these areas are grey. Is there a problem using these together also I would like some longer extension tubes have any of you guys found tubes that would work other than the obvious expensive ones that are on the SS website. dont get me wrong I have ordered several Items from SS and will support them all I can but being new to this I am hooked and have been spending a little more than i should and would like to save a buck or two if I could. We need pix! The 91 and 03 should be a common design as far as I know. The design changed earlier.

Have to agree that the 505/510 hardware should match if the years given are correct. If you look at the 510 to 520 conversion kits they have a kit for pre 1986 and another for 1986 and later. Since your machines are newer all should be well.
