A photo is worth a thousand words (I'm not sure what you mean when you say the arbor doesn't seat against the spindle).ruggini wrote:anyone else having this problem. Arbor doesnt seat against spindle shopsminth customer service claims not a problem
Gale's Law: The bigger the woodworking project, the less the mistakes show in any photo taken far enough away to show the entire project!

And how does that cause 'slipping'?
Which arbor? There are different 'types'.

No matter which (Shopsmith arbor assumed) dado arbor you are using, it should not slip. It should not move in and out on the drive shaft and the shaft should not rotate even a little bit within the arbor. If either of these describes your problem, get a new set screw and dress the flat where the set screw seats.
Are you using the correct set screw in the arbor and is that set screw being snugged down securely on the flat?
Do the symptoms that give you concern apply only to the "dado arbor"?
If I hold the drive shaft on the left side of the headstock and simultaneously try to rotate the saw blade (back and forth), it moves. Not a lot but it moves. Might this be similar to what you are experiencing?
If this describes your problem, it is likely the result of a worn drive and ring assembly (514083).

This might help.

The information in the first three columns is nothing more than a compilation of data contained in the Shopsmith documentation for the various pieces of equipment. The description in the fourth column is my determination of what the part should be. Shopsmith does not, to my knowledge, record this information anywhere that is accessible to the user. Use at your own risk.
The number in the fifth column represents the quantity used at that specific location.

Have you looked into the arbor bore to see what foreign object is in the bottom?(a set screw maybe?:D) Maybe even a little rust or a burr(shaft also).
BTW, was "SS CS" a 'male' ?
