My used 510 came with a velcroized sanding disc worn in 3 concentric circles. My thought was that the PO tried to sharpen chisels, the velcro got too hot and melted.
Tried using GOOP as it had removed the glue from long deceased bumper stickers and decals. No luck. Left the disc in the sun and let it get HOT! Tried pulling up an edge! Yet nothing budged that plastic. Finally I got way past frustrated and decided to use the Oxy-Acetylene torch.

If I was still working and got $1 an hour for my work (yes I know that means I was over paid!!), it would have been cheaper to buy a new steel disc!
At one time I did consider taking the belt sander to it.

And yet I still put the velcro on the disc for my M7. I really only use it for quick minor stuff. Pull out the orbital sander for most projects, though I'm trying to learn to use scrapers.
Bottom line... the velcro is like a diamond... it's there forever!
Be well,
