Power Station Question

Suggest a healthy shot of belt conditioner to remove any 'set'. I does make a big difference re noise and smooth running.

Any brand or manufacturer for the belt conditioner that works best? It is a little rough running but I thought that was the nature of the beast.

It is noisy and does not run smooth even on its best day but it works well.

I have never put belt conditioner on so there might be some improvement available there. I use mine often so the chance of set in the belts is minimal.

It is indeed the nature of the beast, as designed and built. But if you add a couple of stiffener brackets, and replace the standard belts with link belts, it can an run as smoothly as a Mark V. Here's a link with some details.

Do it Dusty! You will be amazed!!!!

Yes the movable sheave can rattle and the sheet metal 'base' can 'wiggle', but those thaings are exacerbated by those stiff belts when they take a set.

I just did so to the last one I acquired that has been sitting for a few months. I could not turn the output shaft by hand at the low speed setting. A few squirts in the right places(the belts side and inside face) and it really made a difference. I can now easily turn the shaft by hand.

'Round', flexible rubber belts run soo much smoother!!!!

When those wide stiff belts take a set, a whole lot o' shaking results. My Goldie like conditioner also!:D

Auto supply store. Mine is 'CRC'.

Looks like CRC has two different belt conditioners, one in a red can(standard) and one in a green can (synthetic) which one have you had success with?

Red can. Will have to check out the green.

Synthetic what? VOC thingey? I really do not know what CA will do when overrun with folks who cannot die!

The green can says it's synthetic and food grade, I guess that is in case you like to chew on the belts.

I would think that would be too rubbery.
