Caster Wheel Question

I put a set of dual casters on my 520 that I use here in Phx. this past weekend and found that I needed to elongate the mounting holes in the legs by only 1/8" on this unit. I used a dremel 3.1 x 6.3mm Cylinder HSS Cutter, 3/32 inch shank to elongate the holes. Moves over the cracks in my shop floor much easier. Added a pic for what it's worth.

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to thank you for posting this solution for replacing the caster wheels with the Grizzly solution. It is a excellent, less expensive solution coupled with a quick fix. Less than 30 mintues.

I really appreciate you sharing this fix. The wheels work great... their quiet and roll easily.

I looked on the Grizzly tool site and I could not find the casters mentioned here. HO727. Can someone fill me in on what happened or is Grizzly no longer carrying this type of casters? thanks

They are still available... Try P/N D2650.

Not a bad deal at all but be aware that these wheels do not have bearings only a bushing. These are quite sufficient for lighter loads but I would not use them for the Shopsmith.

Correct, these are not roller bearing wheels, however, for folks wanting an alternative to the OEM SS wheels they are an excellent choice and have more than enough load capacity to handle the weight of a SS.

I'm having a real real hard time here with the #s for the grizzly casters. Nothing comes up under D2650 or 2650. So I hope maybe there might be another #.

My old greenie did not come with casters, and I was thinking of doing what I did with my table saw that would not roll. I had big casters, and I built a frame of 2 X lumber around the saw while only raising the machine about an inch, and I just kick little wedges under the plywood base to stabilize the machine for use. I'll try to get a pic posted of my Alternative-American engineering. Little metal casters have not been very good in my experience, and I know the SS caster assembly has to be pricey.
