Jointer mounting tube "rings"
I have a goldie SS jointer, on my greenie jointer mounting tubes there is a "ring" on each tube to set the height on it to help it align to the HS PTO for the jointer.
I went to the parts list, which I am assuming is for the newest version, since they show the tubes as "off set" tubes. Are those rings still available from SS? If not alternative ideas? Otherwise I will have to use my limited brain power to think of an alternative myself.
Thanks, Bob

Measure once, cut as many times as needed to get it right! Bob

Yes, if Shopsmith doesn't have any readily available, I've seen those on E-Bay quite regularly, so they should be easy to find.

The ring is what stops the tube downward movement in the headrest or base arm. I sometimes have to cut the upper end of the tube to allow the SPT shaft to align up with the headstock shaft. There is a later version with an offset that works better. I sometimes have to loosen the tube lock bar bolts and twist the leg to get the shafts to align horizontally.rbursek wrote:I have a goldie SS jointer, on my greenie jointer mounting tubes there is a "ring" on each tube to set the height on it to help it align to the HS PTO for the jointer.

I think I know what he's talking about.
The old style stop collars. I have them on my lathe tailstocks, my joiner and my bandsaw. (I don't have the eccentric SPT tubes)

They are a split retaining ring like(but smaller) the main(upper) shaft bearing retaining rings. They are about 1 mm thick(two layers)(.042") and have an id of about 30 mm(1.18") and an od of 1.34". The groove in the mounting post is about 1.19" od.
