Hey! dstensland gave us Win 8 users the way to go

Post by charlese »

Just imagine! We can now use plain ol' Windows 8 with no changes to post photos although we have no paper clip on the message window. No need for a firefox, or other.

Wow! Thanks again, dstensland :D Although not woodworking per say, I believe you deserve a big
ATTA BOY!

Go back over dstensland's post carefully.

I'll try to explain in words the method I just found:

First -- scroll down to "Additional Options" it is found just below the message window. click on "Manage Attachments". This will give you a very similar window as the old paper clip did. (you can enlarge that window if you wish)

Now click on the "Choose File" button. Then browse to find the photo in your file(s).

After that's done, click on "Attachments" at the top of the Message window. Now all you have to do is select the photo, or one of the photos you have selected.

Will the resulting photo be displayed as an attachment or an embedded image?

This is for Windows 8, correct???

For a different procedure description etc., go to the jointer thread.

Is there a difference when using W8?

I have thought this was a chrome issue.

See what happens while posting a different thread. One misses other stuff.

Rant alert!

This entire discussion re the paper clip not appearing would not be occurring if certain software firms would get together and get their act traveling in the same direction and stop making 'improvements' that are backward INcompatible.

I believe JAVA(or whatever) stuff should should not be a moving target to support. New function is great, but not at the expense of other stuff that 'used' to work.

Create demand for improved stuff on it's own merits, do not cram force it by making it incompatible.

End Rant(for now).

Aw, Gee! Windows 8 was my only experience with seeing no paper clip. Yes, I have Chrome that will take me directly to Google - not chrome. Whenever I am surfing, or using this forum, it is from the old Google.

I thought it was a Windows 8 experience.
