How about a couple of retractable "cleats", mounted to the cabinet, that can extend up between the two bench tubes? In the up position, the cleats would "capture" the cabinet to the ShopSmith, and make it roll (or not roll) along with the machine. In the down position, you could move the cabinet and the SS independently.

My first thought was a simple sliding board mounted on each end of the cabinet, with a vertical slot and a clamp knob or two. But it appears from your pics that you may not have enough space for that at the cabinet ends.

Thought #2 is hinged flip-up cleats mounted to the top of the cabinet, one at each end. They could fold down into a recess cut into the foam that you have on the cabinet top. You would still need something to hold them in the vertical position .. a brace or latch of some sort.

Some variation of this might work. I'll think about it. The foam on the top are floor mats so have something softer than concrete while I work.

I looked at all, considered them, which were all good. The magnetized bar was one that appealed to me because I had one but no where to mount it. The problem I faced was to to have something that would allow me to open and close it when it was not beneath the ss. I chose a step-down lock. That way, when it is not under the SS it is secured and can be opened or closed. I hope this helps someone in the future.

Good to know that I have an engineers approval. Small foot. These will be attached to the ends. See, I'm really not the dumb ass shrink everyone assumes is characteristic of us. I broke away from the American (not) Psychological (not) Association 30 years ago because they were so outrageous in promoting sex with children (yes they did). Many of us have better morals.

No apologizes for the rant. I think all Psychs appear to be connected to these wing-nuts.
