Hi Scot and welcome,

Nice score. Looks like it was built in Feb 1981 per http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/faq/markv.htm. Did you get any of the accessory tools? A lot were purchased with at least the band saw and quite a number with the jointer. That will clean up real easily, probably just some light fine-grit sandpaper on the way tubes.

Where are you now located? What branch were you in?

There are a lot of former/retired GIs here. I was in the USAF for a bit over 20 years, late 83-mid 04.

Thanks ya all on the info. you guys are goood!!! I deduced that it was a 500 since I don't have the round handle to raise/lower the table. all I've got are levers.

Very cool ! I've been a Team Green guy since back when, so I thought Kawasaki instantly. I have an 05 ZRX1200R, but it's not green.............yet.

ahh the ole Z-Rex. cool ass bikes. those are one of my faves.

I've owned at least one of each of the Big 4. mostly sport bikes. still want a track bike, but will have to wait.

just bought the Evaporust today at HF. woot! first time been to the new store. Wife loved it too. she's already planning christmas gifts. gonna be hard to get her to buy bike parts, instead of SS parts. Probably won't be able to start tearing into stuff until Monday. Workin this weekend. so anxious to get working on it.
