Gents, thank your responses. Skou, I appreciate your response especially because all I have been reading on line is how faulted this machine is. Its nice to hear that this is actually a capable machine.
Buckeye Dennis, I'll def check out this link. thanks
Besides Youtube, are there any places to view videos of this actually running and being used? I see videos of the Mark ? being used all over the place but none of my model? Also, I am gathering by the info i see online that my model was probably made sometime around 1953 or so. Does that appears correct to you gents? Serial #99455

Ahouse,
I am not an expert on exact dates, but I believe they were made from sometime in 47 till sometime in 52-53. Then went to the present stile, the greenie being the first of the present stile. Here are some nice sites.

Right or wrong I used White Lithium Grease in a tube from Lowes when I restored my 3 10ER's and they seem to work ok. You have several of the members here drooling over your acquisition.

The newsletters are available at the same page I linked to in post #10. The first three issues were called "Shopsmith Shop Notes", and with issue #4 they changed the name to "Shopsmith Shavings".rbursek wrote:BD,

That widget is what I thought might be a ring master, but those pix reveal it most likely is not. There may more parts to it?BuckeyeDennis wrote:That's a nifty-looking widget. But I don't have a clue what it is for. If it is a SS item, it must be pretty darned rare.
