Bandsaw Mounting Tube Question

I just bought a used model 510 that included a bandsaw. The mounting tubes that were included with my bandsaw seem to be too long. I have the newer style bandsaw with the aluminum table, and the mounting tubes are the one-piece die-cast tubes with an offset. The shorter portion of the tube is 2.125" long and the longer portion is 6.75" long. I am wondering if I was given the wrong mounting tubes for the bandsaw. Can someone let me know what the correct length is for these mounting tubes? Thanks!

That seems right to me. Make sure the short end goes into the bandsaw...

Thanks for your reply. It doesn't matter which end goes into the bandsaw, the bandsaw still sits too high. I am wondering if the belt sander or other special purpose tool would use longer mounting tubes than the bandsaw. The only other special purpose tool I got with my Shopsmith is the jointer, which has very short mounting tubes.

"The band saw still sets too high". Sets too high for what. Do the power connector hubs align with one another.? This vertical alignment is done by moving the band saw either up or down on the eccentric tubes (keep the lower eccentric legs locked in place). When doing this, the short end of the eccentrics should be down (into the Mark V).

Aah. Are you attempting to do this with the bandsaw mounted on a Power Station? If so, you may have the eccentric tubes in the wrong set of holes.

I will have to take a picture when I am home later tonight. No, the power connector hubs do not align. And I do not have the Power Station. I am hoping someone can confirm the length of the mounting tubes so I can order the correct ones if mine turn out to be wrong. Shopsmith customer service would not give out this info through email, and I don't have a job that allows me to be on the phone on hold all day. The mounting tubes that the manual says I should have are part number 5137779. Can someone measure theirs and let me know? Thanks!

I hope this answers your question. The second image tells the rest of the story. There is a mechanical stop in the bandsaw that limits the length of the eccentric tubes. After all these many years, I did not know that that mechanical stop existed.

No, I do not know. The only SPT I can think of is the strip sander and I don't have one to verify.

I have noticed this mechanical stop inside the bandsaw. I think it is interesting that the correct length mounting tubes (yours) do not go all the way to the stop. I would think it would be desirable to have the mounting tubes go all the way to this stop because they would also be going through the second set of bored out mounting tabs/bosses inside the cast housing. This would make the bandsaw mounting more rigid and less likely to have the casting break at the bottom.

So as to not overlook it's possibility, you ARE attemting to align the bandsaw shaft to the UPPER headstock shaft(NOT the lower one the jointer uses)?
