That rope needs to break ONLY ONCE to do significant damage as your drill press tumbles to the ground. This is where I'd go for a bit of overkill.dgreen810 wrote:For everyone's information the Block and Tackle you see in the pictures is the "El Cheapo" I picked up at HF to see if the idea was plausible and because it was Sunday. My intent is to upgrade if necessary in the future, However for now it does the job it is intended for. I don't believe it will be used that often anyway.

Re: Lift for accessory tools?
FWIW, attaching the knotted end of the rope to the upper pulley will increase the mechanical advantage.

Re: Lift for accessory tools?
I can't imagine it having an issue with the weight involved. The only complaint in the reviews that actually might pertain was that the included rope was hard oh the hard on the hands. Even with the planer you'd only have a pull of around 13 lbs on the free end of the rope.
It will be s bit but I'm going to follow your leads. Thanks!

Re: Lift for accessory tools?
It may have been posted previously, and I haven't tried, but it looks to me like the HF folding 1000# Engine Crane or a Craigslist "patient lift" might work. It would eliminate mounting and store reasonably well. Has anyone with an engine crane tried using it for moving SPTs?
Re: Lift for accessory tools?
Do those go high enough? If so that would be great, though above my budget. Someone will benefit though.
