Today was a big day for my bandsaw. I got it about four years ago from a fellow who found it in a collapsed barn. At the time I rebuilt it to the point that is was functional, but far short of pretty.

This week I decided to give it a second round of rebirth. Today I took it to a friend's shop and walnut-blasted the white corrosion from the inside of the body. Right now she is in the basement after a fresh coat of primer.

I ordered a couple new labels, salvaged the serial number sticker, and also ordered the SS bearing upgrade. If there is a round three of rebirth, I'll look into the double-bearings, but for now it is single-bearing upper and lower, and double-bearing guide.

First on tomorrow's list is to drill and tap to add a nylon tensioning bolt to the guide-column. Then on to a first coat of topcoat.

Free beer at my house to the first person to figure out why I used a 5/16-18 nylon screw instead of 1/4-20 when I modded the guide bracket.

You went with what you had? i.e. tap

Orrrrr you first drilled a 1/4" hole.
