Hey thanks. I appreciate the link. You guys are great! I'll look at this tomorrow afternoon.

I did tear the headstock down to bare bones. Not much damage I could see except for what I caused.

When I put it back together the motor wouldn't start. It did the same when I tried to start it when I first got it. I'm going to have an electrician at work look at the switch. Hopefully that's all it is.

OKAY, you got me. Relieve the stress and tell me what fixed the problem. Was it a sticky centrifugal switch.

I'm guessing crud between the contacts.

The issue was crud in the sheaves. Cleaned it all and it ran fine

Crud in the motor - maybe. Crud in the start switch - very plausible. Crud in the sheaves - ???

Consider what occurs when one(or both) sheaves are stuck 'open'.
No belt tension. Belt slips on motor pulley.

Had not thought of that earlier.
