Anyone ever build a pool cue rack?

I have been task to build a gun cabinet and matching pool cue cabinet for an upcoming project. I am not a pool player and would like ideas and sizes for the items that would be stored in the cabinet. This is the basic design handed down by the designer. Some names have been blotted out to protect the innocent.

I'll attach some pics of the one I made for my game room. Average pool cue 57-58" high, rack top retainer about 11" from tip of cues, butt hole if cues have rubber buffers on bottom 1" if not about 1 1/4". This holder can be built in a cabinet. The top retainer clips were purchased from a billiard supply store.

Also note there are different sized balls, the different rack frames and the bottle with 'mini balls'. And maybe corner rails to convert to a billiards table. Also allow for more than one que ball(both white and red).

I assume a 'score line' will be elsewhere.(or does anyone use those any more?). If they wanted you to make one, a lathe duplicator would be 'handy'.

Another way to secure the sticks is to make the upper rail with large holes rather than the clips. Better IMHO than clips, but one must be careful so as to not disturb the tip. Felt line the hole.

Jpg, I agree about the cue holder but could run into a problem with rack inside a cabinet with getting them in and out of upper holes since you have to stab them from the bottom and there most probably be room restrictions at the bottom to do that.

Key word was 'large' holes.

Another 'option' would be to have the rack angled and no upper restraint other than sideways, but I believe that may be perceived as a potential for warping. Another is slots with a rotating closure. Triangular shaped so they be 'auto closing'.

Question being what is the 'quality' of the que sticks being stored?

I understand large holes but the problem is the amount of space below the bottom rack in relation to the distance that the top retainer holes are from the tip of the cues. You need at least that much space below the bottom rack and inside the cabinet that could be a problem. I think your other suggestions might be better
