ss Jointer questions?

One question, I have un-split but slightly wavy washers as springs in my '84 jointer. Are they wrong? They work fine, regardless. I assume they just found split washers cheaper and just as effective since they are between the three flat washers.

I think it is the reverse. Split washers early(my 50 yr old Goldie), wave washers today.

I don't want to belabor the point. I talked with the mother ship again this morning. They tell me the spring washer part # 502920 has been replaced with a new part # 120382 which is a split washer O.D..688, I.D. .382 which to me is a 3/8" lock washer. It's possible it may be thinner or thicker than an off the shelf lock washer, but I doubt it. They are supposed to call me back to verify the thickness.

After putting the jointer back together using off the shelf lock washers, it seems to work as it should.
