Tiny tweaks that make life easier

Post by paulrussell »

Sometimes it is the smallest thing that can improve your Shopsmith experience. Here is one I wish I'd done a long time ago. The drill dust collection insert is incompatible with the shield under the table. So I am often taking it off and replacing it. Now the small (10-24) allen screws are thumb screws, no more needing to grab an allen wrench.

Nice little mod. I don't remove the tie-bar that often but that would definitely make the job easier.

Nice fix, Paul! :D
I got tired of taking the shield off - then putting on, so I leave it off most of the time. Small amount of saw dust on the floor as a result.

May adopt your thumbscrew tweak!

Yup, I agree. Very nice touch.

Notice the jam nuts on the 45° tilt stop. Those have made it nice too.

I drilled and tapped mine because of what hardware I had on hand at the time. These thumb screws have worked real well.
