My Doctor is a craftsman himself so I don't believe he would do that. He uses turquoise and jewelers' silver rather than wood but he is still a craftsman.
This all came on so fast that I just find it hard to believe it is really happening. I had no advance warning that I recognized. My cardiologist says "that I acknowledged".

Re: Pace Makers in the Shop
Dusty, good luck with the new Pacemaker. I had one installed about 6 or 8 weeks ago.. Haven't spent a lot of time in my shop since it was put in but no problems that I have noticed. The only problem I had with mine was shortly after installation I was called fore Jury Duty. When I reported for that I had to go thru a metal detector at the Courthouse. Of coarse I set it off, then where starting to field strip me when I mentioned the pacemaker. Well now the felllow manning the detector was a bit rude when I mentioned it....He actually told me I need to let them know I have one. But as to your question about problems in my shop....None as of yet....

Re: Pace Makers in the Shop
My only pace-maker experience was a temporary external one after my bypass. I can't recall being able to tell it was there while it was running. I have talked to a couple of friends that had them and don't remember any of them speaking of any problems but they did talk about feeling better and not getting tired.
They shut mine off pretty quick and took it off shortly after that. They left the wires in me just in case and insulated them at the ends to keep my heart from shocking me feeding back the other way. I don't know what insulates you on the inside...
I must admit that when they pulled those pace-maker wires out of my chest shortly before I came home it was without a doubt the strangest sensation I have ever felt in my life.
Not pain, just very very weird.

Re: Pace Makers in the Shop
The pacemaker has been installed and all goes well. As far as the procedure is concerned, it was nothing to be concerned about. I was awake for the entire thing though they prevented me from "seeing" anything. I listened to the chatter and heard all that was going on. I would not have wanted to do that is some of the previous procedures that I have endured.
I guess I really needed the pacemaker though. My pulse rate at the time they attached the pacemaker was 32ppm and it jumped immediately to the 66 ppm that the pacemaker was set for.
The next five days are going to be a nuisance. I have one arm basically strapped to my chest to prevent be from using it. I am allowed to take off the sling but I might as well not. My wife watches me so closely that even without the sling I am strapped.
Worst part if it all - I can not take a shower for 5 days. Can you imagine 5 days without a shower.
