When I restored my greenie I found the verde green Hammerite paint at ACE.

I'm restoring my 1955 greenie as well.
I'm thinking of re painting it with more current grey color,,,,, what are your thoughts on that?????
I also have a friend at work (the painter) and told me he would paint it any color I want. He has the paint match gun that reads the color of an object and can match that color. I have a newer gray band saw and was thinking of matching that color. ANY THOUGHTS?????
Thanks in advance,,,, Billy

Gray is a most excellent color, at least when accented with scarlet.Funbilly wrote:I'm restoring my 1955 greenie as well.

At the end of the day you could paint it whatever color(s) you wanted; there are pics somewhere online of a guy who painted his SS in Pittsburgh Steelers colors along with logos. The biggest reason I stuck with the original colors on mine was because I wanted to retain that classic look.Funbilly wrote:I'm restoring my 1955 greenie as well.

Re: spray paint match for repainting a "greenie"
I refurbished a early 80's machin and went with a two tone. I say dare to be differant and go with what looks good. this is a pick of a machine I grabed for $125 and man did it need some love. The tubes was solid rust and it had paint splashed all over ut and had a apoxy all over the tables and head stock. It was missing the inspection plate and and the casters and drive hubs. I replaced the belts and cleaned up the bearings and torn it down all the way. polished up the knobs and tubes and went with a two tone paint. It kinda gives it that 50's feel but I like it a lot. real smooth machine. It is hunter green and almond its a krylon paint and it holds up nice
