HORZONTAL DRILLING
When drilling the tool bit chatters and makes a terrible noise. The speed is ok and the drill is sharp. I also took the time to level the table parallel to twist drill. Any ideas?
Re: HORZONTAL DRILLING
Chuck not correctly mounted on spindle.
Or bit not properly centered in chuck.
Or bit bent.

Re: HORZONTAL DRILLING
Did you have the work piece securely clamped to the work table?

Does it only act up when going into the wood? Or does it do it just when turned on? Or when advancing the quill?woodmeister wrote:None of the reasons mentioned are the cause of my problem. I appreciate your responses.
When in drill press mode does it react the same? If you remove the chuck, does it still act up? When you remove the drill bit?
What type of wood? Ironwood? Any chance of hitting a broken nail or something?
Pencils down. Please put your name on the top and pass it forward.
