I Use an old I Phone 4 and my computer is now operated with Windows 8.1. With this combination it is a less complicated procedure to post a photo..
Here's how I put my I Phone photos on this site.
I simply mail my photo to my e-mail. Once there I put the photo from e-mail to "my photos". When in "my photos" the photo must be cropped to become wider than tall. (Without cropping, the photo will be rotated 90 degrees by the forum when posted.)
From here the only manipulation to do is to follow the posting method of this forum.
Chuck, do a test for me. I have a hunch that it's not the actual cropping that prevents the photo from rotating, but rather the fact that it was modified and saved by a Windows program prior to posting. So try some editing operation that does
not flip the aspect ratio, save it, and see if it still rotates on you when posted.
I had a similar problem on a different platform. Some applications always displayed photos in the correct orientation, and others (mostly older) did not. I discovered that simply doing a "Save as" operation from my Windows photo-editing software made the orientation always come out correct when viewed from
any app. So I suspect that the forum software is ignoring a "metadata" field in the image file that specifies the correct rotation for displaying the image. On a different forum that was having the same problem, this theory was confirmed by their IT people.
