Yes, I used a lock miter bit in a router table with a Porter Cable 3-1/4 router. One board is cut flat on the table, the other mating piece is cut vertical against a tall fence.

That head and foot board is on my list to build. Nice.
I will be starting a router table/cabinet here in a few weeks.

Years ago I went to The Amana Colonies woodworker's show, there was a booth there featuring Woodpecker's Incara Router Fence System, I had one of their old original gray one's with the toothed racks. This new one was a Twin Linear, with a split fence and Micro adjustable. It was the best purchase I ever made, it took my routing on projects to a new level.

Get the fence you want first then make the table to fit it. Seriously, take a look at Woodpecler's stuff. It's phenomenal.

I started years ago looking at all manner of router tables and other setups... Everybody had some reason that all sorts of special things were absolutely required or you shouldn't even be allowed to own a router, much less buy bits for it. I found several really nice tables with all kinds of features but I choked on the price tag. I have owned several different cheap small router tables that I picked up at yard sales and auctions when I bought routers and the table was sold with them. I think I still have one just because I haven't hauled a load to an auction for a couple of years.
Then PBS got to showing the series Router Workshop for a while and I watched them closely and started thinking... (anybody smell rubber burning?
I couldn't think of a thing that I would do that I couldn't do on a simple table like theirs... I usually try to follow the KISS principle (except when I just want something ) and their simple setup fit that criteria. I still haven't built one yet but it is on the list.

Right now the priority is getting all of the "stuff" out of the woodshop that doesn't "belong" in the woodshop. Not too bad but there is some stuff using up floor space. I save a lot of used wood and more storage for that nearby but out of the woodshop is needed.
All of those things are slowly falling together but I am falling apart...

On the WW shows and in my shop, the router is the # 2 used tool next to # 1, the TS. Unless you buy rough sawn, then the jointer and planer gets involved.

Yeah, I remember that show, those guys were good, also quick and dirty to. Very minimalist.


The icara just spoke to me and since I have an old Ryobi TS with removable router mounting wing, My solution was to just buy several of those and mount a router in each and then it is a simple job to just un clip one and mount the other. I keep different bits chucked in each. The Ryobi TS is aluminum table similar to SS. Easy to adapt and good and straight and flat.

So as posted here previously my next project is a a router cabinet, I bought a manufactured top and fence this fall From MLSC. I was looking at this plan it is a take off of Norm Abrams ultimate router table. I did not need all that and looking for a simpler design, I did not need all that storage, procrastinate when in doubt!!! I came across this today on Lumber Jacks Forum.
Thats what will be my base design to my dimensions for me.
So to this new Post, my living room furniture that I made is Cherry with Walnut inlays and accents/ Mission Style . A mirror framed and coat hook by the entrance door in cherry and birds eye maple, so I need a hall way table and looking for a Mission design that I have a beautiful piece of BE maple for the top Cherry for the rest and some walnut accents. All to tie the mirror, and living room furniture together.
